Manthey Racing Enthusiastically Focuses on Porsche 718 Cayman GT4

Manthey-Racing, the company Porsche sometimes hires to run its motorsports program, has developed an upgrade package for the 718 Cayman GT4.

Manthey-Racing is a German motorsports and engineering company based at the Nürburgring that has recently gotten into the game of upgrading Porsche road cars.

Manthey-Racing's latest road car creation is the 718 Cayman GT4 MR, which was developed using the lessons learned working on the Cayman GT4 Clubsport racer.

"Like all our products, this kit is based on all our know-how in motorsports," said Nicolas Rader, Managing Director of Manthey-Racing, in a statement.

Included in the upgrades are a new coilover suspension, subtle aero changes (including a Gurney flap on the rear wing), forged wheels, and race-spec brake pads. [No changes were made to the powertrain, so the 4.0-liter flat-six delivers 414 hp and 309 lb-ft of torque. Transmission options for the Cayman GT4 include a six-speed manual and a seven-speed dual-clutch, the latter of which will be added in 2020.

The latest upgrades are designed to fit all GT4 versions of the 982-generation Cayman.

Porsche itself is also preparing an upgrade for the Cayman GT4. The automaker is testing a more hardcore variant, likely with the RS designation, and we should see the cover come off later this year.
