Lycan Hypersport, the stunt car from the movie Wild Speed 7, is up for auction.
The W Motors Lycan Hypersport car was featured in a brief but memorable scene from the "Wild Speed" film series when one of the supercars jumps between buildings in "Wild Speed 7". Now, on May 11, the last surviving stunt car from that movie will be auctioned off.
Auctioneer Rubix Network Inc. will sell not only the car, but also the accompanying NFT, which stands for "non-fungible token" and is used to prove ownership of digital objects, in this case a rendered image of the car. These cryptocurrencies are currently extremely popular, but it is important to note that owning an NFT does not imply copyright protection for a particular work; owning an NFT is only considered "ownership" on the blockchain where the digital currency is mined and exchanged

This means that real cars, even clones, are auctioned. W Motors from the United Arab Emirates unveiled the Lykan HyperSport concept car in 2013. The production model was rumored to be powered by a tuned 3.7-liter flat-six engine from Porsche tuner Ruf with 770 hp and 737 lb-ft of torque, allowing it to accelerate from 0 to 62 mph in 2.8 seconds and reach a top speed of 240 mph.
However, the specifications provided at auction listed a 2.7-liter engine with 240 hp, a fiberglass body, and an aluminum chassis. This is not surprising, as stunt cars don't have to be as good as the real thing to accomplish the task at hand. According to the exhibitor, the car also has some cosmetic damage.
Pre-auction estimates range from $750,000 to $2.5 million, which is still less than the asking price of $3.4 million for a new Lykan Hypersport when the car went into production, but for a Lykan Hypersport clone in the hands of a buyer would be much higher. w Motors tried to justify the price with exaggerations such as jeweled headlights.
The 1968 Dodge Charger car from the movie Fast and Furious 7 was also auctioned off in 2019. Paul Walker, who died in a car accident before filming was completed, was last seen in the movie. Walker's brothers Cody and Caleb completed work on the film, replacing his character Brian O'Connor.
