The Gordon Murray T.33 will debut on January 27, becoming a "GT supercar."

Gordon Murray Automotive (GMA), a new automotive company founded by McLaren F1 designer Gordon Murray, will unveil a supercar in a few weeks to follow the T.50.

The new supercar is named the T.33 and GMA registered the trademark with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office last year.

GMA describes the car as a "Supercar GT," suggesting that it is better suited for grand touring than the T.50. The company also stated that the new supercar will be fully developed and built at its recently constructed headquarters in Windlesham, England.

In an interview with Auto Express published Thursday, Murray said that the new supercar will be powered by the T.50's naturally aspirated 3.9-liter V12 engine and, aside from a mild hybrid configuration, will be the company's last model with a naturally aspirated engine without any electrification The company indicated that it would likely be the last model to be powered by a naturally aspirated engine without any electrification.

"We have looked very long and hard at future regulations," said the company's president and CEO, Dr. Gerhard Schwarzenegger. We need to recoup some of the cost of building [the T.50's V12 and transmission] from scratch."

"Don't expect the new supercar to simply be a new variation of the T.50, like Niki Lauda's track car in the T.50s. In an interview with Auto Express, Murray said that the new supercar will use a different platform than the T.50. This suggests that the new supercar will use a more orthodox two-seater layout and omit the fan.

Interestingly, Murray said that only 100 of each car will be built to keep GMA exclusive. He said that because the T.50 will remain a halo, the new supercar will be more affordable, albeit expensive due to its limited production run; the T.50 will go into production soon, with prices starting at 2.36 million British pounds (about $3.2 million). Production of the new supercar is expected to start in 2023.

In addition to the new supercar, GMA also plans to develop hybrid and electric vehicles. Last May, GMA announced the creation of a new division, Gordon Murray Electronics, to develop electric powertrains and electric vehicle platforms.
