For sale is a 2004 Porsche Carrera GT with 27 miles on the odometer.

A nearly untouched 2004 Porsche Carrera GT with only 27 miles on the odometer is currently for sale through DuPont Registry.

Finished in silver metallic with Terracoat leather interior, this Carrera GT is the 154th of 1,270 produced between 2003 and 2006. Porsche had originally intended to produce 1,500 units, but according to the DuPont Registry, production was shortened pending changes to U.S. airbag regulations.

Given that the Carrera GT was not originally intended as a production car, the shortened production run was still a gift to enthusiasts; when it was unveiled at the 2000 Paris Motor Show, the Carrera GT was only a concept car. However, Porsche was soon flush with cash from the launch of the Cayenne and already had the engine to power the supercar.

The Carrera GT's 5.7-liter V-10 engine originated from the aborted Le Mans project. Repurposed for road cars, the engine produced 603 hp and 435 polb-ft of torque. The engine was paired with a six-speed manual transaxle with a wooden shift knob as a tribute to the Le Mans-winning Porsche 917 racing car.

Thanks to its carbon fiber monocoque construction, the Carrera GT's curb weight was reduced to just 3,042 pounds. This allowed the car to accelerate from 0-60 mph in 3.9 seconds, an astounding figure for a naturally aspirated engine car with a manual transmission. The top speed was an equally astounding 205 mph.

The car's asking price of $3.5 million was high even by Carrera GT standards. Another 2004 Carrera GT once owned by Jerry Seinfeld, with 3,700 miles on the odometer, is currently up for auction on Bring a Trailer. The high price at the time of publication was $1.8 million. Another Carrera GT with 250 miles on the odometer sold for $2 million on the same site in January. Presumably, this car has even fewer miles, which would justify the higher price for a wealthy buyer.
