Leaked photos reveal changes to the 2023 Honda CR-V model.

Honda is set to have a busy year with the CR-V, HR-V, and Pilot crossovers due to be redesigned.

Honda previewed the new HR-V in April, and now the new CR-V will be shown for the first time. These leaked photos, discovered by Motor1 on the website of China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, give a clear view of the upcoming sixth-generation CR-V's design.

Expected to arrive as a 2023 model, the new CR-V features an attractive but less adventurous design. It is also larger than its successor, measuring 185.1 inches in length versus the current model's 182.1 inches, which is key since the CR-V offers a third-row seat option in some markets.

The platform is likely to be the same one seen on the redesigned 2022 Civic. The interior seen in spy shots of the prototype is also expected to resemble the Civic's interior.

It is not clear what Honda plans for its powertrain lineup. However, the current CR-V's 1.5-liter turbocharged inline-4 base option will likely be carried over, along with a hybrid setup just added for 2020. The hybrid setup will rely on a 2.0-liter inline-4. Both will be equipped with a continuously variable transmission. The driver can choose between front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive.

In the small crossover segment, the CR-V remains a top seller, despite the presence of many competitors, including luxury carmakers. Since its introduction in 2017, the current model has averaged more than 350,000 units sold annually in the U.S. alone, with a total of 361,271 units sold last year, albeit with production disruptions and coveted restrictions.
