A preview of the 2023 Lexus UX with an improved infotainment system and hybrid powertrain as standard.

The Lexus UX enters the 2023 model year with many changes, but fewer powertrain choices, at least here in the U.S.

The 2023 UX, announced Friday, will be offered in the U.S. only in UX 250h guise. Maximum output totals 181 hp.

While the powertrain remains unchanged from the current model, Lexus engineers have improved the UX's performance by tweaking the chassis, including improvements to steering response, handling stability, and ride comfort. One of the main improvements is increased structural rigidity, which is achieved by adding 20 spot welds to the body.

To further improve performance, Lexus offers the F Sport Handling Package. This adds a sport-tuned suspension with adjustable dampers.

Moving to the interior, the 2023 UX features the latest version of Lexus' infotainment system, which includes a standard 8-inch screen or an available 12.3-inch screen. The screen has touch capability, eliminating the need for the old touchpad controller. There is also a new voice assistant that responds to various prompts." Simple phrases such as "Hey, Lexus" will activate it. It also features a wireless charging pad for mobile devices, two USB connectors, and support for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

Safety systems have also been improved with upgraded cameras and radar systems. In addition, adaptive cruise control now includes a curve speed control feature that slows the vehicle when entering a curve.

The 2023 UX will go on sale late this summer. Pricing will be announced closer to launch.
