California-based Quality Coachworks has transformed the Cadillac Escalade into a very luxurious armored vehicle.

The 2022 B6 Escalade, the latest in the company's AddArmor vehicle line, features lightweight B6 AR 500 bulletproof material on all body panels that provides B6-level protection, plus B6-level tempered glass that can withstand prolonged blows from rocks, bats, and other blunt objects, the company claims. The PA siren system (for crowd dispersal) and run-flat tires also help prepare the Escalade for dangerous situations. It can protect against 7.62x55mm rounds.

Passengers can weather attacks in the comfort of leather upholstery. The interior features a second row of captain's chairs with heating, ventilation, and massage functions, while the center console and aircraft-style fold-down table are located between them. A Samsung Smart TV keeps the crew entertained while under siege by terrorists.

Armor and luxury features will likely add a lot of weight, but Quality Coachworks has not specified any powertrain or chassis upgrades. The Escalade is currently available with a 6.2-liter gasoline V-8 and a 3.0-liter inline 6-cylinder turbodiesel powertrain producing 420 hp and 460 lb-ft of torque and 277 hp and 460 lb-ft, respectively, for the 2023 model year, Escalade V, which will feature a supercharged 6.2-liter V-8 engine that produces 682 hp and 653 lb-ft of torque. It will be quite useful for escaping from marauders.

The Escalade's bulletproof equipment will cost about $80,000, and the upgraded interior will cost another $75,000. To put this in perspective, a base Escalade would start at $77,990 (destination included).

For the paranoid 1 percent, there is also the option of an armored Escalade. Canada's Inkas has introduced its own version in 2021 with lightweight ballistic panels. If the Escalade is too conspicuous, Inkas will apply the same armor package to the related Chevrolet Tahoe and Suburban.
