The 2023 BMW M3 Touring will make its debut at the 2022 Goodwood Festival of Speed.
BMW M is set to debut the 2023 M3 Touring at the 2022 Goodwood Festival of Speed in England from June 23-26.
The BMW M, which recently turned 50, is this year's feature mark at the festival and we knew a new model was planned. Also planned soon is a redesigned M2, which is expected to make its debut at another event.
The M3 Touring prototype has been tested in the wild for over a year. The high-performance wagon is based on the updated 2023 BMW 3 Series and will feature an updated dashboard design with floating screens in the instrument cluster and infotainment hub.
Elsewhere, potential buyers can expect the M3 Touring to adopt the same specifications as the M3 sedan. This engine produces 473 hp in the standard M3 and 503 hp in the M3 Competition.
Also, the standard M3 will only be available with a manual transmission and rear-wheel drive, while the M3 Competition will only be offered with an 8-speed automatic and a choice of rear-wheel drive or all-wheel drive; plans for the M3 Touring are unknown, but it would be quite sad if a manual is not offered.
This is actually the first time BMW M has announced an M3 wagon; BMW's official tuner and motorsports department was on the verge of announcing the M3 Touring as part of the third-generation M3 series 20 years ago, but the project never got beyond the prototype stage.
Attendees of the Goodwood Festival can watch the new M3 Touring race up the Goodwood hillclimb. The recently unveiled 2023 M4 CSL will also be up to the challenge, while BMW M will also showcase a variety of racing cars, including the original 3.0 CSL, the M1 Pro Car, the V12 LMR Le Mans winning car, and the new hybrid V8 LMDh.
