Chevrolet Silverado 1500 ZR2 Bison teaser shows off a more serious SUV in 2023

The mid-size Colorado kicks off Chevrolet's transition to a full-fledged off-roader. On Thursday, Chevrolet teased in a video that the Silverado 1500 ZR2 Bison will arrive this summer. This comes just a few months after Chevrolet unveiled the 2022 Silverado 1500 ZR2 as its next-generation off-roader.

The Bison video concentrates on the underside of the pickup, showing a blacked-out skid plate that appears to cover most of the underbody against about half of the ZR2. The video also shows glimpses of the American Expedition Vehicles (AEV) license plate, the flowtie logo on the flow-through, and different wheels with AEV center caps and unspecified Goodyear tires.

A dark shot of the front lighting shows different round fog lights versus the vertical units of the other trucks. Nothing has changed in the rear dark shot, but both shots may be hiding a modified bumper for better approach and departure angles.

AEV is an off-road brand that manufactures custom trucks and off-road parts for various brands. For the Colorado ZR2 Bison, they offer five skid plates for the engine oil pan, fuel tank, transfer case, and front and rear locking differentials AEV designs these skid plates and uses hard, durable, hot-stamped boron steel. The same skid plates are expected to be installed on the Silverado ZR2 Bison.

The Colorado ZR2 Bison also features AEV-designed stamped steel front and rear bumpers with recovery points and spots for aftermarket winches. These items are also believed to be for the Silverado, although the bumpers are not visible in the video.

More details about the 2023 Chevrolet Silverado ZR2 Bison will be revealed later this summer.
