2023 Acura TLX Type S PMC Edition, available in three NSX-inspired color schemes
The 2023 Acura TLX Type S is the latest model to receive Acura's unique PMC Edition treatment, with production scheduled to begin later this year, Acura announced in a press release Friday.
PMC stands for Performance Manufacturing Center, the Ohio facility where the Acura NSX will be built (though not for long, as the supercar is about to be discontinued.) The TLX Type S is Acura's fourth mainstream model, following the RDX, MDX, and the previous-generation TLX; the PMC edition will be hand-finished by the same technicians who work on the NSX and will feature paint colors derived from the NSX.
Acura will offer the TLX Type S PMC Edition in Kurva Red, 130R White, and Long Beach Blue with contrasting interiors. The Kurva Red sedan will have an Ebony interior with red contrast stitching, the Long Beach Blue sedan will have an Orchid interior with blue stitching, and the 130R White sedan will have a red interior.
All versions feature Milano leather upholstery with synthetic suede inserts and carbon fiber interior trim. Each car will also have a serial numbered plate. Acura has not revealed how many cars it plans to build, but past PMC editions have been built in limited numbers. Acura only offered a production quota of 360 units for the RDX PMC edition and the previous TLX PMC edition, and 330 units for the MDX PMC edition.
In addition to model-specific paint colors, the TLX Type S PMC Edition is distinguished by Berlina Black on the roof, antenna, and door handles, black chrome exhaust tips, and copper-finished 20-inch wheels. The exterior is covered in carbon fiber, including a decklid spoiler and rear diffuser.
According to Acura, the PMC Edition undergoes the same quality control process as the NSX. This includes dyno checks, paint inspection, and rough road simulations. The vehicle will also be wrapped in a specially designed car cover and shipped to Acura dealers on a single carrier. These carriers will be delivered to Acura dealers by the end of the year.
