A preview of the 2022 Formula 1 British Grand Prix.

Formula One returns to the legendary Silverstone circuit in England this weekend for the 10th round of the 2022 season, the British Grand Prix.

The British round is always one of the most popular rounds on the F1 calendar. This is due to Silverstone's history, fan knowledge and racing culture, unpredictable weather, and the fact that numerous teams are based nearby. [Silverstone, which hosted its first F1 race in 1950, has since shared hosting duties with Aintree and Brands Hatch for the F1 British Grand Prix, but it remains the official home of the F1 British Grand Prix. The track layout has undergone constant changes since the inaugural event, with the most significant change coming in 2010 when the old circuit layout was replaced by a new infield section

.

The current 3.66-mile (8.8 km) track consists of fast corners and fast straights, making it one of the fastest laps on the calendar and a popular place for drivers. Therefore, teams aim to reduce drag as much as possible. Therefore, we are likely to see wing setups similar to those seen at the Azerbaijan and Canadian GPs.

Silverstone is also one of the circuits that demands the most energy from the tires: white hard for C1, yellow medium for C2, and red soft for C3. This is the third time this season that this combination has been nominated. [One of those times took place during a red-flag stoppage due to contact between Lewis Hamilton of Mercedes-Benz AMG and Max Verstappen of Red Bull Racing.

As mentioned, the weather was also quite changeable. The weather forecast suggests that there may be some rain during Saturday's qualifying session, but the race on Sunday should remain dry.

Heading into the weekend, Verstappen leads the 2022 drivers' championship with 175 points. Sergio Perez, also of Red Bull, is second with 129 points and Charles Leclerc of Ferrari is third with 126 points. In the constructors' championship, Red Bull leads with 304 points to Ferrari's 228 and Mercedes' 188. Last year's British Grand Prix winner was Mercedes' Hamilton.
