A 1973 Porsche 911 Carrera RS 2.7 owned by Paul Walker is up for auction

The Porsche 911 Carrera RS 2.7 is a special car, and this one is a little more special than the others, of which roughly 1,590 were built.

The car was once owned by "Wild Speed" star Paul Walker and stands out among his collection. Walker mentioned the car in a 2011 interview with Jay Leno on "The Tonight Show," explaining that he bought it after seeing it for sale on the Internet.

It is now available for purchase, although it must be bid on at Mecum's auction, which will be held in conjunction with the 2022 Monterey Car Week. The auction will be held August 18-20. [Copies of titles issued to the AE (Always Evolving) Collection, founded by Paul Walker, Roger Rodas, and Eric Davis, will also be offered. Rodas was the driver of the Porsche Carrera GT in which Walker was killed in a 2013 accident. Rodas also died in this accident.

The Carrera RS 2.7 did not appear in any of the "Wild Speed" films, but the car is certainly worthy. As a result of a homologation program, this car was the fastest 911 at the time of its release, blasting to 60 mph in 5.5 seconds and reaching a top speed of 149 mph. The powertrain was a 2.7-liter flat-six with a maximum output of 210 hp.

This particular car, chassis number 9113600901, was built in March 1973 and has a claimed mileage of 93,774 miles. It also has a Numbers Match engine. The Porsche certificate of authenticity included in the sale confirms that the car had a factory yellow exterior and black interior. The car has been previously restored and still has the same combination.

According to the listing, the restoration work was done by Jerry Woods Enterprises for the powertrain and suspension and Autobahn Interiors for the interior.

No estimate for this car was provided by Mecum. However, the Carrera RS 2.7 is one of the most sought-after Porsches, and the fact that it was owned by Paul Walker means that this car could be in seven-figure territory.

A McLaren Sabre will also be offered in Mecum's Monterey auction.
