2007 Audi S6 Avant on sale in the U.S., meeting the need to carry the V-10 cylinder.

Audi did not sell the third generation S6 Avant in the US. One such S6 Avant clone is on display at Cars & Bids.

According to the listing, this wagon is a 2006 Audi A6 Avant with the powertrain of a 2008 Audi S6 sedan. Recall that both models were sold in the U.S. when new; the S6 Avant was not released until the 2007 model year, but this car is still being offered for sale as a 2006 model.

In other words, this wagon is powered by the same 5.2-liter V10 engine found in the Audi R8 and Lamborghini Huracan, mated to a six-speed automatic transmission and producing 435 hp and 389 lb-ft of torque. Audi's familiar quattro all-wheel drive system is also tuned to a 40/60 front/rear bias in this case.

Improvements are not limited to powertrain swaps. The exhaust system no longer features a catalytic converter, but instead uses a Maserati resonator and a Milltek muffler. Stopping power is provided by Brembo front brake rotors from a 2008 Audi A8 and rear brakes from a 2008 Audi A6 Sport Package.

The car's builder also added an S6 front bumper, LED daytime running lights, polished mirror caps, and a correct European-spec tailgate to replicate the stock S6 Avant look. The rocker panels were sourced from the same generation Audi RS 6 and the 20-inch wheels from the Audi S5. The Avant was also repainted in the factory color Sepang Blue.

The interior features all the necessary parts for the S6, including an S6 instrument cluster, leather-wrapped steering wheel, Recaro seats, and S6-badged door sills. Aluminum pedals and carbon fiber trim are also included.

The odometer currently shows 109,000 miles, but the factory A6 instrument cluster has been removed, so the car's "true mileage is unknown." The seller claims the S6 engine and drivetrain had approximately 101,000 miles when the swap was done. We drove this very car in 2018 and it seemed pretty solid, except for the feel of the wooden brake pedal.

This S6 Avant clone is likely to prove to be a way to performance wagon nirvana for much less than the new Audi RS 6 Avant. The latter is available at Audi dealers in the U.S. for a base price of $117,595 (including destination) and does not feature the distinctive V-10 engine.
