2024 Mercedes-Benz CLE-Class spy shots: new nameplate replaces C-Class and E-Class Coupe

Sedan sales may be on the decline, but the situation is even worse when it comes to sporty two-door vehicles. As a result, most automakers are either reducing the number of coupes and convertibles or eliminating the body style altogether.

Mercedes-Benz is another automaker that is downsizing. For example, it is preparing a single nameplate to replace the current C-Class and E-Class coupe and convertible models.

The new nameplate is expected to be called the CLE Class, which we have previously seen tested in convertible form. And now the first prototype in coupe body style is on public roads. Both should hit the market next year, probably as 2024 models.

The car is closely related to the C-Class redesigned for 2022, but appears to feature a more muscular stance and slightly slimmer headlights. The result should be an overall sportier appearance.

The interior is expected to be similar in design to the latest C-Class, with a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and an 11.9-inch (portrait layout) infotainment screen as standard equipment. [The powertrain should also match that of the C-Class, of which only the C300 is currently sold in the U.S. The C300's powertrain will be powered by a 2.0-liter engine that produces 255 hp and 295 lb-ft of torque, plus a 48-volt A mild hybrid system will add 20 hp and 148 lb-ft of torque. more options from AMG will be available, including the recently announced 400+ hp C 43 and the soon to be announced 600+ hp C 63. the CLE class will also have AMG's options should be available. Stay tuned.
