2023 Porsche Tecan to benefit from software update

Porsche's Taycan enters the 2023 model year with a software update that adds and improves features and, in some cases, increases powertrain efficiency.

Owners of older Taycans need not miss out, as the updates are available for free. However, the update is not available via over-the-air update and requires a visit to a dealer to install.

Of particular importance among the updates is faster battery preconditioning, which is hotter on certain models. According to Porsche, this will allow the cars to charge more frequently overall and faster with a wider range of battery charge levels. Waste heat from other components will also be further utilized to maintain the battery at optimal temperatures in colder conditions, which in some cases will mean greater range and shorter charging times.

Another important change is the infotainment system. New graphics and new features have been added. For example, the navigation system can filter and select charging stations based on charging capacity. For vehicles with a heads-up display, the navigation map is also optimized; Android Auto is now wireless, and the voice assistant has been improved.

Other updates include an expanded operating range for the Parking Assistant's sensors and improved ability to search for available parking spaces. A keyless open function can also be added upon request.

Deliveries of the 2023 Taikan will begin later this year, with prices starting at $88,150 for the sedan and $99,150 for the Taikan Cross Turismo wagon. Both include destination.

The Taycan has proven to be a hit for Porsche. Porsche has delivered more than 75,000 units since the model line was introduced in 2019 and will soon add a second electric car in the form of the electric Macan. Porsche has also announced electric successors to the Cayenne and Panamera, as well as a new electric SUV that will sit alongside the Cayenne.
