2024 Mercedes-Benz EQV Spy Shot: Electric Van Update Planned

Mercedes-Benz was spotted testing the latest version of its mid-size electric van, the EQV.

The EQV is an electric version of Mercedes' V-Class van sold abroad, essentially a more upscale version of the Metris van we get here.

The EQV will arrive in 2019, with this updated version coming in late 2023; the V-Class dates back to 2014 and will likely receive updates similar to those planned for the EQV. This update should also be adopted for the Metris.

The updated EQV appears to receive new headlights, a new grille and front mask combination. The taillights are also expected to receive a few tweaks, and the cabin should get Mercedes' latest infotainment system.

It is not clear what, if any, changes are planned for the powertrain; the EQV is currently powered by a 90-kilowatt-hour battery and a single 201-hp electric motor up front. It has a range of about 250 miles and can be recharged from 10 to 80% in about 45 minutes with fast charging.

Mercedes is also nearing the launch of a small electric van targeted at young families and people with active lifestyles; called the EQT, it will debut later this year and is essentially an electric version of the T-Class, a rebadged version of Renault's Kangoo van. Like the EQV, the EQT will likely not be launched in the U.S. market. Instead, an electric version of the next-generation Sprinter van will likely make its debut.
