Gordon Murray Automotive launches sales in the U.S.
Gordon Murray Automotive, a new automotive company founded by Gordon Murray, the famous F1 designer who developed the McLaren F1 supercar, has expanded into the U.S.
The company's first two products, the T.50 and T.33 supercars, have been launched, and the U.S. operations Gordon Murray Automotive, Inc. was established to oversee the company's U.S. operations. This local subsidiary, based in an undisclosed location in eastern Florida, will also be the North American delivery location for the T.33, which will go on sale in 2024.
To celebrate the U.S. launch, GMA will unveil the T.50 and T.33 on Friday at The Quail, A Motorsports Gathering, one of the premier events of the 2022 Monterey Car Week. IndyCar and NASCAR driver Dario Franchitti, GMA's spokesman and development driver, will drive the company's supercar at Laguna Seca.
GMA will continue to offer supercars, but has confirmed that it will branch out into other segments. There are already plans for an electric SUV.
GMA is part of the larger Gordon Murray Group, whose R&D division, Gordon Murray Technology, is developing an electric SUV; GMT could also develop vehicles for other companies and is already working on another electric for an unnamed OEM working on an SUV. [Gordon Murray Group CEO Philip Lee said in a statement, "We are very pleased to officially launch Gordon Murray Automotive in the United States and announce the Gordon Murray Automotive Center for the North American market. Monterey Car Week is the ultimate event to mark such an important milestone for our company."
