2024 Ferrari Roma Spider spy shots: the new entry-level convertible reveals itself

Ferrari engineers were spotted testing a convertible version of the stunning Roma.

The prototype's lights confirm that it is a Roma, but the roof profile is different. The thick camouflage gear includes a separate section just for the roof, allowing engineers easy access to the roof.

The car, rumored to be called the Roma Spyder, is currently expected to appear late this year or early next year, with a debut at the Paris Motor Show in October favored. It will likely hit showrooms next year as a 2024 model.

What is not clear is whether the car will have a retractable hardtop roof or a lightweight soft-top design. Under the hood, however, the car is expected to be powered by the same twin-turbocharged 3.9-liter V-8 as the Rome Coupe. This engine will produce a maximum output of 612 hp and 561 lb-ft of torque.

Fans may wonder why Ferrari would develop a Roman convertible. As the Portofino M is approaching the five-year mark of its typical Ferrari lifespan, it is possible that the Roma Convertible will take over the duties of the entry-level convertible.

The Portofino M was launched in 2017 and can trace its roots back to the California Convertible launched in 2008; the Rome presented in 2019 rides on a significantly upgraded version of the platform found under the Portofino M.
