2024 Ford Mustang, 2023 Toyota GR Corolla, 2024 Mazda MX-5 Miata: a week in reverse

The 2024 Ford Mustang was unveiled, the 2023 Toyota GR Corolla was tested, and the 2024 Mazda MX-5 Miata began testing. Then the 2024 Mazda MX-5 Miata began testing.

The 2024 Ford Mustang debuted with an expanded model range and a new focus on racing. The new dark horse model brings an estimated 500 horsepower and a track-focused suspension to the lineup, along with track and race variants. Ford also confirmed that the Mustang will compete in the 24 Hours of Le Mans and 24 Hours of Daytona, as well as NASCAR, the IMSA Sports Car Championship, the Australian Supercar Series, and various GT3 and GT4 competitions worldwide.

The 2023 Chrysler 300C stole the limelight in Detroit; while production of the 300 will end with the 2023 model year, Chrysler will produce 2,200 of the new 300C with a 485-hp 6.4-liter V-8 engine. According to Chrysler, the 300C will be priced at $55,000 and deliveries will begin in the spring.

We drove the 2023 Toyota GR Corolla and marveled at how the Japanese automaker has taken the economy car hatchback from boring rental car status to turbocharged pocket rocket. With its advanced all-wheel drive system, turbo 3, and 6-speed manual, the GR Corolla is a riot. In this little hot hatch, willpower is everything.

The Ferrari Prosangue was officially unveiled with a 715 hp naturally aspirated V12 engine. Prancing Horse's first crossover SUV looks like a large, lifted hatchback and features sous vide doors.

The new Mazda MX-5 Miata test mule begins public road testing. Early mules used the body of the current MX-5 Miata, with subtle changes to hide the updated running gear. Debut is expected in 2023 or possibly 2024.
