Ford Pro Electric Super Van in the Ring

Ford's Pro Electric Super Van concept was spotted testing on the Nürburgring and surrounding roads.

The concept was unveiled in June at the 2022 Goodwood Festival of Speed, and its powertrain consists of four electric motors that produce a total of 1,972 hp. The multiple motors enable the car to sprint from a standstill to 62 mph in less than 2.0 seconds.

The concept is based on Ford's new E-Transit Custom electric van, but as one might imagine, it has little in common with that production model. Its unique body is made of composite materials, and the platform is a purpose-built steel space frame with front and rear subframes with unequal-length double wishbone suspension front and rear.

Ford built this concept to serve as a demonstrator of new technologies, including electric powertrains, connectivity, and other digital features useful for business. Among the practicalities is a side door release system that can be controlled by the infotainment system.

It is not clear why Ford is testing the Pro Electric Super Van in the "Ring". They may be testing new powertrain technology, or they may be preparing to set official lap times.
