2023 Chevrolet Tahoe RST gets a power boost with Performance Edition Pack
Chevrolet has improved the performance of the 2023 Tahoe RST by adding a new package dubbed the Performance Edition Package.
The package, unveiled Wednesday at the 2022 Detroit Auto Show, essentially brings upgrades originally developed for the Tahoe police chase vehicle and delivers better ride and handling.
The package, available only on the 2023 Tahoe RST with the 6.2-liter V-8 and four-wheel drive, also increases horsepower slightly by 13 hp to 433 hp and torque by 7 lb-ft to 467 lb-ft. Combined with other upgrades, the Tahoe RST accelerates from 0-60 mph in 5.8 seconds and reaches a top speed of 124 mph. This compares to the RST's 6.0 seconds and 112 mph without the package. The quarter-mile ET is 14.2 seconds (97 mph) compared to 14.4 seconds (97 mph) for the normal.
Other upgrades include new springs, larger diameter sway bars, and retuned dampers. The ride height was also lowered by 0.4 inches at the front and 0.8 inches at the rear. Perhaps the most important upgrade, however, are the new Brembo brakes with front rotors 25% larger than stock. This gives this large SUV a braking distance of only 133 feet from 60 mph to 0 mph. Importantly, this change does not affect the stock car's 7,600-pound towing capacity.
Tahoes equipped with this package are available with the Luxury package, which includes a black "RST" badge on the tailgate, sport pedals, and driver assistance features.
The package is priced at $8,525, which when added to the $70,415 price of the 2023 Tahoe RST, brings the total price to $78,940, including a $1,795 destination charge. Production is scheduled to begin in the fourth quarter of 2022.
