The 2023 Infiniti QX50 adds a new Sport trim level with a model-specific front end, dark-painted 20-inch wheels, and gloss black trim.
On Tuesday, Infiniti said that in addition to the newly available Sport trim, the 2023 Infiniti QX50 will get several more standard features across all trim levels. They include heated outside mirrors, remote start, frameless auto-dimming rearview mirror, wireless charging pad, and rear door alerts.
Like other 2023 Infiniti models sold or leased in the U.S., the QX50 will be covered by Infiniti Premium Care, which offers up to three years of free service, oil changes, and tire rotations.
The current QX50 was introduced for the 2019 model year, with a more coupe-like cousin named the QX55 for 2022. This remains mechanically unchanged for the new model year.
That said, the only available powertrain remains Infiniti's variable compression engine, called the VC Turbo; the 2.0-liter turbo4 continuously raises and lowers the reach of the pistons to vary the compression ratio. Higher compression ratios improve efficiency, while lower ratios allow for more power and torque; the VC Turbo can offer any compression ratio between 8:1 (performance-oriented) and 14:1 (efficiency-oriented).
The engine's maximum output is 268 hp and maximum torque is 280 lb-ft. However, despite the variable compression feature, the engine is not that efficient, with standard front-wheel drive getting 26 mpg combined (23 mpg city, 29 mpg highway) and 25 mpg combined (22 mpg city, 28 mpg highway) with all-wheel drive.
The 2023 Infiniti QX50 is available in Pure, Luxe, Sport, Sensory, and Autograph grades. Pricing starts at $41,495 for the base Pure trim with front-wheel drive, up $1,470 from the 2022 model. All-wheel drive remains a $2,000 option for most trim levels, but becomes standard on the top-of-the-line Autograph.
Infiniti will double down on utility vehicles. The luxury brand will reportedly add another crossover between the QX50 and QX60 by 2025. Meanwhile, the Q60 coupe will end with the 2022 model year, and the aging Q50 sedan will be the last in the Infiniti lineup.
