2021 Nissan GT-R50 sold, 11th of 19 cars sold.

The 2021 Nissan GT-R50 (11th of 19 cars produced) is for sale at Canadian dealer Legendary Motorcar Company.

The GT-R50 is a special coachbuilt model jointly developed by Nissan and Italdesign to celebrate the GT-R's 50th anniversary. The first concept version was unveiled in 2018 and production was confirmed later that year with a price tag of $1.1 million.

One might think $1.1 million is a lot for a Nissan car, even a GT-R, but the GT-R50 features unique bodywork sculpted by Italdesign. The coachbuilder actually approached Nissan about the project, and the GT-R50's body was entirely handcrafted by Italdesign craftsmen. According to the ad, the vehicle is painted in Liquid Silver Metallic paint, an option that costs approximately $25,000.

Modifications to the standard GT-R body were quite extensive. Italdesign lowered the roof by 2.1 inches and redesigned the rear windows to flow more heavily toward the rear of the car. The front and rear ends are also completely different. The most noticeable differences are the four taillights that stand proudly out from the bodywork and the large, hydraulically operated rear wing on the vehicle being offered for sale.

The GT-R's 3.8-liter twin-turbo V-6 engine is tuned to produce 710 hp and 585 lb-ft of torque, 110 hp and 104 lb-ft more than the GT-R Nismo on which the GT-R50 is based. This was achieved with a turbocharger based on the one used in the GT-R GT3 racing car, enhanced engine internals, a larger intercooler, and a new intake and exhaust system.

Nissan and Italdesign had planned to produce 50 units in honor of the GT-R's 50th anniversary, but dealer advertisements claim that only 19 were produced. Thus, the GT-R50 may be even rarer than its creators intended.
