Jeep Avenger, the brand's first EV, debuts at the 2022 Paris Motor Show.

The new Jeep Avenger, the off-road brand's first production electric vehicle, made its official debut Monday at the 2022 Paris Motor Show.

The Avenger is a subcompact crossover designed primarily for the European market. The Avenger has not yet been confirmed for sale in the U.S., but was teased in September along with the Recon and Wagoneer S, two large electric SUVs that will be in Jeep dealerships in 2024.

The Avenger is confirmed to go on sale in Europe in early 2023, followed by several Asian markets. The car will sit below the compact Renegade, which may be deemed too small for the U.S. market. At only 160.6 inches long, it is about 6.0 inches smaller than the Renegade.

The Avenger rides on the CMP modular platform from Jeep's parent company, Sterantis. This platform is designed for subcompact vehicles and supports both electric and internal combustion engine powertrains. Jeep has confirmed that a gasoline-powered Avenger will be offered in select markets.

The CMP platform is also used in crossover vehicles such as the DS 3 Crossback and Opel Mokka. However, this Jeep will be front-wheel drive only, as the Avenger is equipped with a new 400-volt powertrain and a single electric motor on the front axle.

The motor produces 156 hp peak and draws energy from a 54 kwh battery. According to Jeep, a 20-80% charge can be completed in about 24 minutes using a fast charger.

Despite its front-wheel drive, the Avenger benefits from Jeep's off-road characteristics, such as short overhangs and a high (for its class) ground clearance of about 8.0 inches, as well as hill descent control and a selector for selectable terrain drive mode.

The vehicle is also equipped with the following features.

And despite being Jeep's entry-level model, it comes equipped with an impressive list of features. All Avengers come with a digital instrument cluster (7.0-inch standard, 10.25-inch selectable), a 10.25-inch infotainment screen, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, navigation, voice activation, and over-the-air update Features. Electronic driver assistance features such as automatic emergency braking, traffic sign recognition, and the Highway Assist feature, which combines adaptive cruise control and lane keeping assist to control the vehicle in a single lane, are offered as standard or optional.

Production of the Avenger will take place at the Sterantis plant in Tych, Poland. The Polish plant is also rumored to be the future home of the Brennero, an Alfa Romeo related model, and the Fiat 500X, which will be joined by the Avenger.
