Ring Brothers' 1972 Chevrolet K5 Blazer "Bully," 1,200 hp, goes on a rampage.
Wisconsin hot rod builder Ringbrothers brought four new builds to the 2022 SEMA Show, including this 1972 Chevrolet K5 Blazer.
Named Bully, this Blazer boasts 1,200 horsepower from a GM LS3 6.8-liter V-8 with a 2.9-liter Whipple supercharger. That power is sent to all four wheels via a GM 4L80E four-speed automatic transmission and front Dana 44 and rear Dana 60 axles.
To handle the steroidal power while maintaining off-road capability, the Ring Bros. employed a custom chassis with a triangular four-link suspension damped by two Fox Racing coilovers per wheel. The Blazer wears Cooper Discoverer STT Pro tires, and braking power comes from 15-inch front and 14-inch rear rotors clamped by Baer six-piston calipers.
The exterior retains most of the factory styling with a few subtle updates. Carbon fiber fender flares make room for the huge tires, and lightweight materials are used for the hood. The Blazer is painted in a shade called Bashful Blue.
The interior has a "floating" theme, with the dashboard consisting of three pods and the seats upholstered like lawn chairs. The dashboard and shift knob are one-off pieces, as is the carbon fiber steering wheel. The winch and jerry can take up most of the cargo area.
The Bully Blazer is one of four cars the Ring Brothers brought to the 2022 SEMA Show. The others are a 1969 Ford Mustang Mach 1 Patriarch, a 1969 Chevrolet Camaro Stroud with a carbon fiber widebody, and an Enyo, a radically modified 1948 Chevrolet pickup truck.
