Hennessy Rum 1500 TRX Mammoth to Overland for $19,950.

Hennessey Performance Engineering is bucking the Overland trend with the improved Ram 1500 TRX, designed for treks into the wilderness.

The new Overland Edition is based on the Hennessey Mammoth-tuned version of the TRX and adds features such as a bed rack with hard-shell tent, a retractable 55-inch awning, auxiliary fuel tank, and water reservoir. Also included is a 28-inch splitting axe, shovel, and LED ambient lighting, while a ladder and grab handle provide easy access to the bed-mounted tent.

The Overland Edition is available as an upgrade to Hennessey's Mammoth 900 or Mammoth 1000 powertrains. The former increases the TRX's 6.2-liter supercharged V-8 engine from stock 702 hp and 650 lb-ft to 900 hp and 873 lb-ft, while the latter further increases output to 1,012 hp and 969 lb-ft. These outputs are achieved through a new supercharger, larger fuel injectors, and a high-flow induction system.

Hennessey says the Mammoth 1000 can reach 60 mph from a standstill in 3.2 seconds and can travel the quarter mile in 11.4 seconds at speeds over 120 mph. It is unclear how the added weight of the camping gear and extra fluids will affect acceleration, but Hennessey has named the Mammoth 1000 Overland Edition "the world's most powerful overlanding pickup."

Hennessey also expects most customers to order the $21,950 Stage 2 Off-Road package, which includes 37-inch tires (instead of the stock 35-inch), new bumpers, LED off-road lights, and electronic folding steps, front leveling kit will be added.

The Overland Edition will cost $19,950 in addition to the Mammoth performance upgrades ($25,950 for the Mammoth 900 and $36,950 for the Mammoth 1000) and about $86,000 for the donor vehicle. The total cost could be approximately $165,000.
