Mercedes-Benz is undergoing a mid-cycle update of its compact range, and the latest model to receive an update is the CLA-Class.

The updated CLA-Class will be available in dealerships in late 2023 as a 2024 model in regular CLA-Class guise, spicy CLA 35 and CLA 45 S AMG guise.

With the A-Class withdrawn after 2022, the CLA-Class is the only compact sedan offered by Mercedes in the U.S. The A-Class is still available in other markets, with its own updates; the A-Class is still available in other markets, with its own updates.

The tweaks to the 2024 CLA-Class are mild even by mid-cycle update standards. Exterior changes are limited to a revised front mask and grille and a new rear diffuser design. There are also new graphics for the lights at both ends, which use standard LED technology, and a new color palette, Hyper Blue, a color exclusive to the CLA-Class.

On the interior, a 10.3-inch screen is standard on the instrument cluster and infotainment system, the latter featuring the latest version of the MBUX interface with voice activation. Nappa leather trim is standard on the steering wheel, and an AMG line steering wheel is available for the first time.

Other standard features include automatic high beams, folding automatic anti-glare exterior mirrors, a system to help park in tight spaces (but not for the driver), and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto and more. A Burmester audio system with Dolby Atmos is also available, as is a Mercedes driver assistance package that includes a variety of active safety features.

The 2024 CLA-Class will only be offered in the CLA 250 grade with the 2.0-liter turbo four. The engine is rated at 221 hp, but the mild hybrid system can temporarily boost power by 13 hp under heavy load. Standard front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive is available, with 0-60 mph acceleration in about 6.3 seconds in either configuration.

Buyers looking for even more performance should check out the AMG grade, which delivers up to 416 hp.

Pricing for the 2024 CLA-Class will be announced closer to launch.
