Lucid is offering a $7,500 temporary "EV credit" on select Air sedans.

The Lucid Air was built in Arizona but does not qualify for the federal $7,500 EV tax credit because of the $55,000 limit for cars ($80,000 for SUVs and trucks) (SUVs and trucks have a more generous $80,000 limit).

However, Lucid announced Thursday that it will temporarily offer a $7,500 discount, which the company calls the EV credit, on some versions of the Air.

Lucid's offer runs through March 31 and applies only to the Air Touring and Air Grand Touring, with prices starting at $108,900 and $139,500, respectively. After discounts are applied, prices are $101,400 and $132,000. [Zach Edson, Lucid's vice president of sales and service, said in a statement, "We believe our customers deserve a $7,500 credit, even if they choose an EV. With this limited-time offer, we hope to get Lucid Air into the hands of even more customers."

The offer, which applies in the U.S. only, does not include the $180,500 Air Grand Touring Performance grade, nor the Air Touring and Air Grand Touring with Stealth styling option, PurLuxe interior package and metal roof option are also not included. It also cannot be combined with lease incentives.

Air enthusiasts looking to save even more can always opt for the dual-motor all-wheel drive Air Pure, which starts at $94,400. Lucid also plans to lower the price even further later this year with the introduction of the single-motor rear-wheel drive Air Pure, which will start at $88,900. The top-of-the-line model will be the new three-motor Air Sapphire with more than 1,200 horsepower, starting at $250,500.
