Toyota GR Corolla ramps up production, with production of the series extending through 2024.

The Toyota GR Corolla Circuit Edition, previously available in the U.S. in a limited run of 1,500 units as a 2023 model, will now also be available as a 2024 model.

Toyota made this announcement on Thursday, but did not say whether production would continue to be limited. However, it did confirm that production of the GR Corolla will increase. One reason for the limited supply is that the GR Corolla series, along with the smaller GR Yaris sold overseas, is produced at the Gazoo Racing plant in Motomachi, Japan.

Toyota cited strong demand as the reason for the increased production and expanded supply capacity of the GR Corolla Circuit Edition, and the automaker is considering further expanding the supply capacity of the Circuit Edition through the 2025 model year if demand remains strong He stated that they are considering expanding the supply capacity of the Circuit Edition further through the 2025 model year if demand remains strong.

"We are witnessing enthusiasm and excitement for the GR Corolla, especially the Circuit Edition. We have listened to Toyota's GR fans and plan to increase the number of GR Corollas and continue to offer the Circuit Edition as part of the GR Corolla lineup in 2024."

Exact specifications for the 2024 GR Corolla Circuit Edition will be announced later this year, but it is expected to carry some or all of the features of the 2023 model.

The 2023 GR Corolla Circuit Edition adds several credible upgrades to the base grade GR Corolla Core. These include Torsen front and rear limited-slip differentials, a bulging hood, a forged carbon fiber roof, synthetic suede and synthetic leather seat upholstery, heated front seats, a heated steering wheel, red contrast stitching, wireless charging for smartphones and more are included.

Both versions are powered by the same 1.6-liter Turbo 3 with 300 hp and 273 lb-ft of torque, driving all four wheels via a six-speed manual transmission.

The more hardcore GR Corolla Morizo, a designation borrowed from the nickname of outgoing Toyota CEO Akio Toyoda, features further upgrades, including a peak torque increase to 295 lb-ft. The Morizo will be available in 2023 in a limited edition of 200 units, but Toyota officials have indicated that it may be offered in subsequent years. Other special editions may also be offered.

Pricing for the 2023 GR Corolla Core starts at $36,995. The Circuit Edition starts at $43,995 and the Morizo starts at $50,995. Both include a $1,095 destination fee.

It is not yet clear if prices will be different in subsequent years.
