The redesigned Mercedes-Benz GLC-Class for 2023 was unveiled in June, and in March the compact crossover's body style was joined by the more racy GLC-Class Coupe.

AMG versions of both crossovers are still being tested, and the latest spy shots show the new GLC 63 coupe. The regular GLC 63 is also being tested. You can tell this is an AMG because of the four square exhaust tips in the rear, the Panamericana grille in the front, the large cross-drilled brake rotors, and the lowered suspension.

AMG will replace the current V-8 engine in the upcoming GLC 63 and GLC 63 Coupe with a plug-in hybrid powertrain that relies on a turbo-4 internal combustion engine; this new setup, branded E Performance, will be available in 2024. recently debuted in the redesigned C 63 S range-topper, branded C 63 S E Performance to reflect the hybrid powertrain.

The engine is an upgraded version of the 2.0-liter turbo-4 engine found in AMG's current compact car. With the addition of an electric turbocharger, the engine's output should be raised to 469 hp in the new GLC 63 S E Performance. The mild hybrid configuration will also include an electric motor integrated with the engine to power auxiliary functions and act as a starter motor.

In addition to these, a more powerful motor (up to 201 hp) would be mounted on the rear axle, for a total output of up to 671 hp. This rear motor is mated to a dedicated two-speed transmission, and a 6.1 kwh battery ensures a modest electric range. a similar setup is used in the 2023 GT 63 S E Performance 4-door coupe and 2023 S 63 E Performance.

Although not yet confirmed, we can expect the more modest GLC 63 E Performance and GLC 63 E Performance coupe models to feature a detuned version of the plug-in hybrid powertrain. In this case, total output should be around 550 hp, which would still be significantly higher than the 503 hp of the current GLC 63 S grade.

Another upgrade is rear-wheel steering.

GLC 43 and GLC 43 Coupe models will also be available. These models should feature the same setup as the 2023 C 43, specifically a 2.0-liter turbo four with electric auxiliary turbocharger and mild hybrid configuration. This setup produces 402 hp in the C 43.

The new GLC 63 S E Performance and GLC 63 S E Performance coupe are expected to go on sale in late 2023 or early 2024. The new GLC 43 Duo should also arrive around the same time.
