Pininfarina's Batista special edition honors first F1 victory

Pininfarina will present a special edition of its electric hypercar, the Batista Edizione Nino Farina, at the 2023 Goodwood Festival of Speed this week in a five-car The car will be presented in a limited edition.

The car was developed to celebrate the fifth anniversary of the Pininfarina automotive brand this year. As its name suggests, the car also honors Giuseppe "Nino" Farina, nephew of Pininfarina founder Battista Farina, who won his first Formula 1 race in 1950. Nino also won his first F1 race as an Alfa Romeo driver.

Each of the five cars will be fitted with aluminum door plates highlighting different moments in Nino's life. These moments include his date and place of birth (Torino, 1906), his first F1 pole and first victory at the 1950 British Grand Prix, his second win at the 1950 Swiss Grand Prix, his third win at the 1950 Italian Grand Prix, and his 1950 F1 title.

All five cars have the same exterior colors: red, white, and blue for the body, and gold for the wheels. They will also have contrasting driver and passenger seat colors. [The powertrain remains unchanged, with four electric motors and a 120 kwh T-shaped battery. Peak output will be 1,874 hp, with a 0-60 mph time of 1.79 seconds and a quarter mile time of 8.55 seconds. With a motor on each wheel, pinpoint torque vectoring will also be possible.

The Batista Edizione Nino Farina is the second special edition of the Batista. It follows the Battista Anniversario, which was unveiled in 2020 to celebrate the 90th anniversary of Pininfarina's design studio, and was also limited to five units.

Pininfarina is known to be working on additional vehicles in larger numbers than the Battista. One such vehicle is an SUV, which Pininfarina previewed to potential customers several years ago with the Pura Vision concept car. However, Pininfarina has not provided any specific information about this SUV, other than that it is expected to have an output of 1,000 hp.
