2024 Porsche 911 S/T Limited Edition with GT3 RS engine

Porsche unveiled the 2024 911 S/T limited edition model late Tuesday to commemorate this year's 60th anniversary of the original 911.

The car is the latest in Porsche's series of retro heritage design models and, as its name suggests, draws inspiration from the 911 2.5 S/T track car launched in 1971.

Closely related to the 911 GT3 RS, this model is fitting as the original 2.5 S/T was a lightweight, track-focused model developed for customer racing. It is fitting because the original 2.5 S/T was a lightweight, track-oriented model developed for customer racing.

Only 1,963 units will be sold worldwide, a number that refers to the year the 911 was launched. Porsche has set the starting price at $291,650, including a $1,650 destination charge.

Power comes from a 4.0-liter flat-six shared with the GT3 RS, which matches the car's maximum output of 518 hp. This engine does not use a dual-clutch automatic, but a six-speed manual transmission that features a lightweight clutch and shorter gear ratios than the 911 GT3's manual. Performance is rated at 0-60 mph in 3.5 seconds and a top speed of 186 mph.

The S/T also benefited from a series of weight-saving modifications, making it the lightest model in the 992 911 family, with a vehicle weight of 3,056 pounds. Major changes include the use of carbon fiber-reinforced plastic for the hood, roof, front fenders, doors, rear axle anti-roll bars and shear panels. Driveline parts such as the aforementioned clutch and some engine internals also contribute to weight reduction.

The wheels are also made of magnesium (20-inch front, 21-inch rear), and carbon ceramic rotors are used for the brakes. Batteries are also lighter lithium-ion batteries instead of the standard ones. Other weight reductions were achieved by removing certain elements, such as insulation and a rear-wheel steering system.

The exterior resembles the 911 GT3 Touring, but there are subtle touches that give it its identity. For example, the extended rear spoiler is equipped with a gurney flap. Porsche also offers a new paint scheme, Shore Blue Metallic, and wheel colors Ceramica only on the S/T. Customers can also opt for the Heritage Design Package, which adds racing numbers and a classic-style Porsche Crest logo.

Buyers with room in their pockets can order the Porsche Design watch known as the Chronograph 1-911 S/T. This watch features a titanium case, which is not coated or blasted to save weight. The watch is offered exclusively to S/T buyers and is priced at $13,500.

Other Heritage Design models include the 2020 911 Targa 4S Heritage Design and last year's 911 Sport Classic and 911 GT3 RS Tribute to Carrera RS.
