2025 Hyundai Ioniq 5 N, 641 hp offered at $67,475

The Hyundai Ioniq 5 N will finally arrive at U.S. dealers this month as a 2025 model, and Hyundai confirmed this week that prices will start at $67,475, including a $1,375 destination charge.1]

Hyundai's compact and crossover, which is expensive for one that is battery-powered, the N in the car's name means that it is a performance-only vehicle offered by the Hyundai N Performance division

.

In other words, this crossover has an impressive 641 hp from its standard dual-motor all-wheel drive system, plus a variety of N-developed features, including a function that simulates gear shifting in a gas powertrain-like fashion. Rated output is normally 600 ps, but the boost function boosts it to 641 ps, allowing for a 10-second explosion.

According to Hyundai, the Ioniq 5 can accelerate from 0-60 mph in 3.3 seconds using launch control (traction can be adjusted in three stages) and reach a top speed of 162 mph.

In addition, the Ioniq 5 N is fully equipped, so buyers do not need to add extras. Hyundai N is known to be developing several performance parts for the crossover, some of which were previewed at the 2024 Tokyo Auto Salon in January along with the Ioniq 5 NPX1 concept car. However, there is no mention of when the parts will be available. [The standard battery is 84 kwh; it can charge up to 350 kwh and can be charged from 10 to 80% in 18 minutes. No range estimates were provided, but the regular Ioniq 5 with the smaller 77.4 kwh battery has EPA estimates as high as 303 miles for some grades.

Hyundai has unveiled an updated Ioniq 5 in Korea that replaces the 77.4 kwh battery with the Ioniq 5 N's 84 kwh unit. It also added an Ioniq 5 N Line model with a slightly tweaked dashboard and some of the sporty design touches of the Ioniq 5 N, but no additional power. Hyundai has not announced when the Ioniq 5 will be available outside of Korea.
