First look at the possible 2026 Mercedes-AMG GT 63 S

Mercedes-Benz AMG is working on a new member of the GT coupe family, which is expected to be positioned between the current GT 63 grade and the upcoming plug-in hybrid range-topper that will likely be badged GT 63 S E Performance.

A prototype has been spotted, and given the lack of camouflage gear, a debut could come later this year.

The lack of rear charging ports and the yellow warning sticker typical of electrification test vehicles indicate that the prototype skips the plug-in hybrid powertrain.

The wider front fenders and square-shaped exhaust tips are identical to those on AMG's 4.0-liter V-8 twin-turbo-powered GT coupe, suggesting that this is the powertrain the new model will feature.

Other elements, such as a fixed rear wing and carbon ceramic brake rotors, were also appropriated from the GT 63. The only camouflaged front mask, however, is of its own design.

Given these hints, it is possible that the new variant will be named "GT 63 S."

Also, peak power should be somewhere between the GT 63's 577 hp and the expected 805 hp maximum output of the GT 63 S E Performance plug-in hybrid.

The latest GT coupe was introduced for the 2024 model year, bringing a larger footprint and 2+2 seating than its successor; for the 2025 model year, an entry-level GT 43 with a 2.0-liter turbo four with 416 hp was added. The 2025 model year will also see the introduction of a plug-in hybrid, the GT 63 S E Performance.

Whatever the final name, the new variant may only appear as a 2026 model.

More variants of the GT Coupe are likely in the future. Referring to its predecessor, grades such as the GT R and the Black Series, which are specialized for circuit driving, may also be introduced.
