2025 Mercedes-Benz GLC-Class with 350e plug-in hybrid option

Mercedes-Benz announced today that it will add a new electrification option to its best-selling GLC-Class, the 2025 GLC 350e plug-in hybrid, which will be available in U.S. showrooms in late 2024, with pricing information to be announced closer to the on-sale date.

The latest GLC-class was introduced for the 2023 model year and was initially only available in the GLC 300 with a 258 hp 2.0-liter turbo four; the GLC 350e adds a 134 hp electric motor to the GLC 300 for a total output of 313 hp.

It has a large 24.8 kwh battery, so electric range is also there. Mercedes estimates the electric range at 81 miles under the WLTP test cycle used overseas, but it will be shorter if the more stringent EPA cycle is used. According to Mercedes, a full charge using a DC fast charger takes about 30 minutes.

In electric mode, top speed is limited to 87 mph. Drivers can select electric mode with the drive mode selector. The car also has an off-road mode that allows the car to be driven solely on electric power off-road.

Standard features include all-wheel drive, 12.3-inch digital meter cluster, 11.9-inch infotainment screen, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, wireless smartphone charging, heated 16-way front seats with memory and automatic anti-glare rearview mirrors, ambient lighting, a power tailgate, and a host of electronic driver assistance features.

The latest GLC-Class is also available in a coupe-like body style, but Mercedes has not indicated whether this option will be paired with the GLC 350e grade.

AMG's latest GLC 63 is also a plug-in hybrid; known as the GLC 63 S E Performance, it features a 2.0-liter turbo up front and a powerful electric motor in the rear, producing 671 hp.

Buyers willing to wait can expect an electric GLC-class. A prototype of this model is currently being tested in preparation for its debut next year.
