2024 Chevrolet Silverado EV RST priced at $96,495 with a range of 440 miles

More than two years after Chevrolet first announced the 2024 Silverado EV, retail customers can finally order the full-size electric truck in time for delivery this summer.

The first version is the Silverado EV First Edition RST, which Chevrolet announced Wednesday with a $96,495 price tag that includes a $1,995 destination charge.

While that is steep, this price is roughly $9,000 less than the original price announced when the vehicle was first displayed.

Early production slots will be allocated to reservation holders, and as a bonus for keeping reservations, Chevrolet will add a two-way GM Energy Power Shift Charger with a power rating of 19.2kw at no additional charge.

The Silverado EV First Edition RST will be powered by a 200kwh or 205kwh battery (GM will not confirm size) and Chevrolet estimates the range at 440 miles. It will also feature a dual-motor all-wheel-drive powertrain with a maximum output of 754 hp when using temporary wide open-wheel-drive mode. According to Chevrolet, the towing capacity is 10,000 pounds and the maximum payload is 1,300 pounds.

Standard features include air suspension, rear-wheel steering, 24-inch wheels, a glass roof, Super Cruise highway driver assistance system with trailering capability, a heads-up display, and a flexible midgate that increases the length of cargo that can be carried.

The Silverado EV First Edition RST is the flagship of the range. A more affordable Silverado EV grade for retail customers will be announced at a later date.

The 2024 Silverado EV Work Truck, exclusively for fleet buyers, was launched last year with a starting price of $74,800, including a $1,895 destination charge. Chevrolet said last year that Silverado EVs in this price range will still be available for both retail and fleet customers.

A related GMC Sierra EV will also be available in the 2024 model year.

Production will take place at General Motors' Factory Zero plant near Detroit, where the GMC Hummer EV is also built; in 2025, production will expand to GM's Orion Assembly Plant in Orion Township, Michigan.
