Testing of the Bugatti Boride has been completed, paving the way for the circuit-specific hypercar to enter production. According to Bugatti, the first models will be available to customers in the coming months.

According to the automaker, the lengthy testing process focused on both fast lap times and accessibility. Andy Wallace, a 24 Hours of Le Mans winning racing driver and Bugatti test driver, said in a statement that the latter is what makes the Volide stand out.

"Every car becomes more difficult to drive when it reaches its limits," Wallace explained, but the Bugatti Bolide remains remarkably easy to drive even when it reaches the limits of its capabilities.

That's despite the Bugatti Chiron's 8.0-liter W-16 quad-turbo engine, which is tuned to run on 110 octane racing fuel, so the Bolide version of the W-16 produces 1,824 hp and 98 This is in contrast to the 1,577 hp of the base Chiron, which runs on 98-octane fuel. This will be one of the last uses for this unique engine as Bugatti switches its next-generation hypercar to a V-16 hybrid powertrain.

Even with its carbon-fiber monocoque, developed in collaboration with racing car builder Dallara, the Volide is quite heavy, weighing in at a dry weight of about 3,200 pounds. However, according to Bugatti, the monocoque was designed to the same FIA crash safety standards as the LMH and LMDh prototype racers. It also has a racier driving position than Bugatti's road-going models, with the driver's heels slightly raised.

The bolide is designed primarily for handling and can produce 2.5 g of lateral grip, but it still has a top speed of 236 mph in its low-downforce configuration, a far cry from the Chiron's 261 mph governed top speed. However, Bugatti has not ignored driver comfort in the slightest. The Boride is equipped with air conditioning, power steering, stability control, and antilock braking system with Brembo carbon-carbon brakes.

Bugatti plans to build 40 units at a price of about $4 million each. All have been reserved.
