Ineos plans 2 More Suvs, potential U.S. factories

While Ineos only started production of its first model, the Grenadier SUV, 2 years ago, the newly established company, part of the British chemical giant of the same name, has already launched a Quartermaster pick truck variant and confirmed plans for another electric SUV called Fusilier.

However, the company has no plans to slow things down and already has two more Suvs on the drawing board, as well as a potential US plant. Ineos's current plant is the former Mercedes-Benz plant in Hambach, France.

This information was revealed by Ineos CEO Lynn Calder during last week's Financial Times Future of The Car Summit in London, Motor Trend reported.

After the Fusilier electric SUV that Ineos recently revealed goes into production around 2027, 2 Suvs will reportedly arrive. The new Suv is not intended to be as hardcore as the Grenadier or Fusiliers when it comes to off-road, but it should still be very capable. 1 of them will be larger than the Grenadier, suggesting that it will provide a seat in the 3rd row.

According to the Motor Trend report, Calder shows that 2 new Suvs will be built on a platform that can accommodate multiple powertrain types, suggesting that they can offer both electric and gas versions. While Ineos is known to be testing hydrogen fuel cell powertrain, Calder reportedly downplayed the possibility that ineos would operate on hydrogen due to a lack of infrastructure.

As for potential U.S. factories, Calder reportedly said Ineos was also looking at China, but suggested the U.S. was looking at China. The plant could be more lucrative due to a 25% tax on light trucks imported into the United States, including the current Quartermaster.

Ineos was born after British billionaire Jim Ratcliffe, Chairman and founder of Ineos Chemical Company, was denied rights to the original defender by Land Rover, and he wanted to continue building for the industry and off-road fans. Ineos also owns 1/3 of the Mercedes・Benz AMG Formula 1 team.
