Ford's Must325,000 Mustang GT received more than 7,500 applications

It seems there are plenty of buyers willing to drop a sum comparable to a new mustang mortgage.

Ford last month launched the application process for the Mustang GTD, which was first shown last summer, and the automaker said on Wednesday it had received more than 7,500 applications for Model Year allocation in 2025 and 2026 from interested buyers in North America.

Ford said that 4 out of 1 applicant is the owner of an existing mustang and 5 out of 1 is the owner of a car with similar performance to a rival brand.

Another application process is planned for customers in Europe, West Asia and Mexico, details of which will be announced on May 6 and the Mustang GTD will make its European debut in the same month. The debut will take place on the sidelines of the 6/15 Le Mans 24 Hours race, which will be held on the weekend.

A car that focuses on legitimate tracks on the street will cost more than3325,000, but its performance will be close to matching with some dedicated race cars. Based on the latest seventh generation mustang, the car will feature carbon fiber bodywork, a new suspension, including rear inboard setup, and a target

This car will also benefit from active aerodynamics, including a drag reduction system, similar to those found in Formula 1. What is it? The system incorporates both the rear wing and the flap below the front and rear of the vehicle. They are designed to remain open during normal driving, but close when cornering at speed to generate downforce.

One of the performance goals 1 is the Nürburgring lap time less than 7 minutes. Ford will start testing in the 'ring this summer and plans to make that attempt before the year is out.

Ford does not say how many Mustang Gtd will be built, and how long. However, the automaker has confirmed that production will be limited. Production will be entrusted to Multimatic, the same Canadian outfit that built the latest GT supercar.
