The BMW M Ev will focus on the show, not on the go, so forget the tank turn

BMW M is developing a quad-motor electric powertrain that will be the exclusive domain of the BMW go-fast division.

The Big Power Number is not the only star of the show. This development will take advantage of the powertrain's ability to power exactly where it needs to provide a new level of handling chassis control system

According to BMW M boss Franciscus van Meel in an interview with the BMW blog published on Monday, the powertrain is an electric Mercedes-Benz G-class tankter. It does not provide special features that enable excellent social media content, such as the G-turn (G-turn) and the oblique drive of the GMC Hummer EV (crab Walk).

"We are not going to implement some kind of feature like that in our car," he said. "It's just a rabbit hole for the show."

In an interview, van Meel said that EVs also don't need special soundtracks that help build emotions and provide a sense of how fast you are going, like the various sounds that Hyundai's Ioniq5N can produce, including those that mimic high-performance gas engines. According to Van Meel, you should prioritize the right feedback from the car over creating a soundtrack for the Ev.

Van Meel has also previously shown that electric M cars, like many of the large evs on sale today, do not push back the occupants' heads. Instead, the powertrain he and his team are developing features linear power delivery.

VAN Meel has not indicated when the first electric M car will arrive, but in an interview with BMW's blog, BMW M said that he has been involved in the development of the Neue Klasse EV platform from the beginning.

BMW's first Neue Klasse EV will be a compact crossover, similar in size to the X3. It will arrive next year, and in 2026 it will be followed by a sedan of similar size to the 3 series. Both models could have an M version.
