Ineos Grenadier prototype group suggests V-8, 3-row seating, small pickup

Ineos will unveil prototypes of its Grenadier SUV and Quartermaster pickup truck at the 2024 Goodwood Festival of Speed.

The vehicles will include the Grenadier and Quartermaster with portal axles from LeTech of Germany. The portal axle offsets the wheel hubs below the centerline of the axle, in this case increasing ground clearance by 9.8 inches to 20.2 inches and water depth by 9.9 inches to 41.3 inches, Ineos said in a press release. The axles also allow for the installation of off-road tires.

It did not confirm whether the portal axle would be offered as a factory option, but Ineos said a vehicle with a similar modification has already been delivered to the fire department in Mühlheim an der Ruhr, Germany.

Also on the horizon will be a short-bed Quartmaster pickup truck, nicknamed the Short Master. This crew cab pickup uses Grenadier's 115-inch wheelbase, which is 12 inches shorter than the standard Quartmaster wheelbase. The rear seats have been moved forward to maximize the size of the cargo bed, which is also fully integrated with the chassis.

The three-row, eight-passenger Safari, built by Botswana-based Ineos Kavango, was designed for safari tours and other related markets.

Ineos also co-developed a prototype V-8 Grenadier with Magna, which plans to build the Ineos Fujilier, a small SUV. The 6.2-liter V-8 engine supplied by General Motors produces 425 hp and 838 lb-ft of torque, a significant jump from the 282 hp and 332 lb-ft of torque of the 3.0-liter turbo six-cylinder engine supplied by BMW that is currently installed in the US market Grenadier. lb-ft, a significant jump up from the previous model. According to Ineos, the engine swap required changes to the engine mounts, water and oil cooling systems, exhaust pipes, transmission bearings, heat shields, and even the center console.

Finally, Buzz Special Vehicles converted the Grenadier into an FIA-approved rally car, modifying the stock Grenadier BMW Turbo 6, which produces 348 hp and 737 lb-ft, with rally-specific suspension and brakes, roll cage and other necessary It is scheduled to compete in the 2025 World Rally Raid Championship.

Ineos also has several entirely new models in development. The aforementioned Fujilier is said to be offered with an all-electric and extended range powertrain, but no release date has been set. In addition to the Fujilier and Grenadier, two more SUVs are reportedly planned, possibly for a U.S. plant.
