2026 Hyundai Palisade with Santa Fe boxy design

Hyundai has once again been spotted testing its redesigned Palisade, with the latest prototype losing the heavy camouflage previously seen and revealing a significant departure from the current Palisade's styling.

The current Palisade, the first generation of the three-row midsize SUV, arrived in the U.S. for the 2020 model year and received a mid-cycle update in 2023. This next-generation Palisade should appear in the 2026 model year, with a likely debut in 2025.

Since the Palisade is a cousin of the Kia Telluride, Kia's redesigned version will likely arrive at about the same time as the Hyundai.

The latest prototype features a boxy design similar to the new Hyundai Santa Fe, which will be introduced in 2024, with a definite Land Rover vibe. This should give the new Palisade a more rugged appearance that will be further emphasized if the XRT grade of the current Palisade is repeated. The grille also appears to be larger in the new generation.

Rumors of a new platform seem to be confirmed by the prototype's longer nose section compared to the current Palisade. This allowed the designers to push the front axle further forward, resulting in a longer wheelbase.

Hyundai has not revealed details about its future plans for the Palisade, but the same rumors offer a hybrid powertrain with a 2.5-liter four-cylinder for the gas component, or a turbo four-cylinder option for the new generation to replace the current standalone 3.8-liter V-6 It is noted that.

Currently, all Palisades are powered by a 291 hp 3.8-liter V-6 engine. This engine is mated to an eight-speed automatic and can drive the front wheels or all four.

The Palisade is one of Hyundai's best-selling vehicles in the United States. The SUV has sold an average of more than 80,000 units each year since its launch, with a record total of 89,509 units sold in 2023. The Palisade faces new competitors, including EVs, and the redesign is expected to keep the momentum going. Hyundai will also add a three-row electric SUV, the Ioniq 9, to the 2025 model year; its debut, called the Ioniq 9 (rather than the Ioniq 7 name previously considered), is scheduled for later this year.
