2026 Genesis Electric GV70 Update Revealed

An update to the Genesis GV70 is planned for the 2026 model year, and a prototype of the updated electric model has been spotted.

The GV70 arrives in the U.S. as a 2022 model, and the update will serve as a mid-cycle refresh of the popular compact crossover.

Gas-powered models in the updated GV70 lineup debuted in April and are already on sale in select markets. Given that the electric model known as the Electrified GV70 is still being tested, it is possible that more substantial adjustments than the usual refresh are planned.

The Electrified GV70 currently has a 77.4 kwh battery and a 429 hp dual-motor all-wheel drive powertrain, like the 2025 Hyundai Ioniq 5 update that replaced the 77.4 kwh battery with an 84 kwh unit, The updated model may have an 84 kwh battery.

The larger battery should increase range over the current Electrified GV70's EPA-estimated range of 236 miles.

Other tweaks should mirror those made to the gas engine model. Namely, the grille pattern will be changed, the internal structure of the lights will be modified, and a new front mask with skid plates will be adopted. At the rear, the turn signals have been moved from the lower fascia to the taillights.

More significant changes take place in the cabin. The distinctive elliptical theme of the premium design is still present, but the current model's separate instrument cluster and infotainment screen are replaced by a single floating display that spans 27 inches. A glimpse of the new display can be seen in the spy shots.

The debut of the updated electric GV70 is expected late this year or early next year. In the U.S., sales are likely to begin next year, given that it is a 2026 model.
