AC's modern Cobra GT Roadster gives birth to a coupe.

AC Cars on Thursday added a coupe to the stunning Cobra GT roadster it launched a year ago, giving fans of the lightweight sports car an all-weather option.

The fixed-roof model is called the Cobra GT Coupe and will be available for order with deliveries beginning in late 2025. The first cars to be delivered will be the Extreme Clubsport Edition, polished for the racetrack and limited to just 99 units.

AC is a British automaker that can trace its roots back to 1901, but is arguably best known for its Ace sports car, launched in 1953 and later based on the Shelby Cobra. Shelby also created a variant of the coupe called the Daytona Coupe.

AC produced its own version of the Cobra with a V-8 engine at the time, and had a coupe version known as the A98 that competed in the 1964 24 Hours of Le Mans The A98 was technically a racing car, but the modern Cobra GT coupe is built for public roads. built for public road use.

The custom-built aluminum space frame chassis is shared with the Cobra GT roadster, which also features a lightweight carbon fiber body. The chassis was designed from the ground up and features a wheelbase that is approximately 11 inches longer than the original Cobra. The wheelbase is 101 inches and the overall length is approximately 166.3 inches. The target vehicle weight is under 3,300 pounds, with a near 50:50 front to rear weight distribution.

Power comes from a Ford 5.0-liter V-8 with 450 hp standard and 720 hp with a supercharger. However, the Club Sport Edition delivers 799 hp.

Buyers can choose a 6-speed manual or 10-speed automatic transmission with paddle shifters, and they also have the option of adding a Torsen limited-slip differential. Drive is to the rear wheels only. The coupe will offer the same level of performance as the roadster, AC said.

Production will take place at the same facility on the south coast of England as the Roadster. Prices for the coupe start at 325,000 British pounds (about $351,000).
