Pininfarina to unveil one-off car at Monterey Car Week 2024

Pininfarina has plans to become an electric car maker, but it hasn't forgotten its design and coachbuilding roots.

At the 2024 Monterey Car Week later this month, Italy's Pininfarina will showcase the Ferrari Enzo-based P4/5 by Pininfarina, the Rolls-Royce Phantom Drophead Coupe-based Hyperion, and the recent The latest in a long line of coachbuilt specials, including standouts such as Morgan Midsummer.

One teaser photo of the new car was released on Thursday, but little has been revealed about its design.

The car was commissioned by the owners of the North American-based Pininfarina Batista electric hypercar. Pininfarina has stated that the car will be a true one-off model, but has not revealed what donor the base chassis will be. Pininfarina is sourcing the Batista chassis from Rimac, which originally developed the Batista chassis for its own electric hypercar, the Nevera.

The chassis is powered by a T-shaped battery with a capacity of 120 kwh and four independent electric motors, which together produce a total of 1,874 hp in the Batista; 0-60 mph time is under 2 seconds and top speed is over 186 mph.

Pininfarina also unveiled a Speedster based on this chassis, known as the B95, which debuted at last year's Monterey Car Week and is limited to 10 units worldwide.

Pininfarina plans to introduce more voluminous models in the future: in 2019, the company has hinted at a lineup of five models, including a sedan, a coupe, a convertible, and an SUV, the hypercar Battista. the SUV's design candidate was last year at Monterey Pura Vision Concept, which was unveiled last year in Monterey.

This year's Monterey Car Week will be held in California from August 9 to 18.
