2025 Lincoln Navigator thinks you need to settle down

Lincoln has given the 2025 Navigator a new interior and new front and rear end styling similar to its midsize SUV siblings, the latest Lincoln Nautilus and 2025 Aviator.

Ford's luxury division unveiled the new car at Monterey Car Week and made it available online at midnight on August 15.

The Navigator still rides on a full-size truck frame and remains a cousin to the Ford Expedition and F-150, but it has been significantly revamped for an even more luxurious driving experience. Offered in Reserve and Black Label trims, it remains a competitor to vehicles like the Jeep Grand Wagoneer, GMC Yukon, and of course the Cadillac Escalade.

This year's 2025 Navigator will have a new front and rear end appearance similar to the Aviator and Nautilus. There is a chain mesh style grille across the front with LED lighting encrusted with the Lincoln logo. The light band tapers across the body to a metallic trim piece that arcs toward the rear. There, another band of LED lighting bends toward the taillights and their surroundings, creating a more subtle appearance.

But where the Navigator really adds luxury is inside. Lincoln has mounted a 48-inch display on the Navigator's dashboard. A secondary touchscreen and piano key-style transmission controls flank the angular steering wheel. According to Lincoln, the console's control knobs are inspired by crystals, if not the real thing.

The passenger seat is power-adjustable, 24-way for the driver and 22-way for the front passenger, both with heating and cooling and massage functions. The Navigator L is about a foot longer and has a larger cargo area, but it makes no difference for those sitting on the second-row bench seat.

Lincoln added two new black-label models to its lineup this year: an Atmospheric-themed shade of blue-gray contrasts with the beige and gray of the new Enlighten theme. The former features 24-inch copper wheels, 30-way power front seats, leather upholstery, wireless smartphone charging for the second row, heated and cooled captain's chairs for the second row as well, and heated third row seats.

In the new Rejuvenate mode, the navigator slides the driver's seat back, initiates the massage function, warms the seats, and does so for 5 or 10 minutes while the screen switches to screen saver mode and the car begins to emit its own scent. The screen displays patterns inspired by the elements (earth, wind, fire, and water), the Northern Lights, and waterfalls.

Lincoln has not changed the Navigator's drivetrain this year, even though the hybrid system is desperately needed to improve the Navigator's fuel economy. (No wonder, since nearly one-third of dealers said no thanks to the pure EV sales model.) The Navigator's twin-turbo 3.5-liter V-6 engine, mated to a 10-speed automatic with standard four-wheel drive, still produces 440 hp and 510 lb-ft of torque.

Maximum towing capacity remains the same at 8,700 pounds. The Navigator's 22-inch wheels transmit the road surface via standard adaptive suspension, but Lincoln now offers 24-inch wheels.

Ford's BlueCruise driver assistance system takes over some of the controls while driving on the highway. Standard on the Navigator this year, along with lane change assistance, BlueCruise covers more than 130,000 miles of highway in the U.S. and Canada. After the first four years of free service, Lincoln will return BlueCruise to a subscription model.

Standard features include blind-spot monitoring, automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, adaptive cruise control, automatic park assist, and active lane control. The Navigator also features Trailer Backup Assist and Hitch Assist, all linked through a network of cameras and sensors.

Pricing for the 2025 Lincoln Navigator has not yet been announced, but the base price will likely rise to about $90,000.

Standard features include an 11.1-inch touchscreen, paired with a 48-inch display that can run Apple CarPlay and Android Auto wirelessly. The system can also be used with voice commands and can be updated to show videos and games while the navigator is parked. Google Maps navigation and 5G service will be free for four years, after which it will move to a subscription model.

We will have more information on final pricing and test drives of the new Navigator later this year.
