Volvo ES90 electric sedan is announced.

Volvo is not done with sedans yet.

On Wednesday, Volvo teased its upcoming ES90 electric sedan with the debut of the 2025.5 XC90 in Sweden.

The images reveal a sedan that will feature a sloped windshield, different from the current gas-powered S90. The design depicts a sedan, but it could also be a liftback to compete with the Audi A6 E-Tron Sportback.

The midsize sedan is expected to be the electric successor to the gas-powered S90 sedan and a sedan counterpart to the EX90 electric SUV.

The ES90, which is expected to go into production in 2024, is codenamed V551.

Production of the V551 was expected to begin by May 2022, and Australian Volvo executives said they would launch an electric mid-size sedan by the end of 2024.
