Lingenfelter produces the Chevrolet Colorado with the LT4 V8 engine.
Lingenfelter Performance Engineering of Brighton, Michigan, has been offering a supercharger upgrade for the Chevrolet Colorado's 3.6-liter V6 engine for some time. The supercharged engine's output is around 500 hp, which is plenty for a midsize pickup truck. However, there will always be buyers who want more.
As a result, Chevrolet tuners are developing an upgrade for the LT4 What is the LT4? It's the 6.2-liter supercharged V8 found in the Camaro ZL1, C7 Corvette Z06, and the latest Cadillac CTS-V.
The stock LT4 is rated at 650 hp, but Lingenfelter has developed a 720 hp modification. The power increase comes from a pulley kit, which Lingenfelter sells separately for $1,095.
To fit the LT4 into the Colorado's engine bay, Lingenfelter had it tuned at Current Performance in Port Richey, Florida, according to Muscle Cars & Trucks. The engine is mated to the Colorado's eight-speed automatic and tweaked to handle the extra power. Naturally, the upgrade can also be applied to the matching GMC Canyon.
Lingenfelter is still developing this upgrade, so performance and pricing data has not yet been released. For comparison, the cost of the Lingenfelter supercharger upgrade for the Colorado's 3.6-liter V6 is $6,995 with installation and dynamometer testing.
