A preview of the 2021 Chevrolet Camaro.

After a facelift over the past two years, the 2021 Chevrolet Camaro takes a brief respite.

The changes for the new model year are minor and are mostly limited to a reallocation of features within the various trim levels.

The most significant news is the arrival of a 10-speed automatic in the 1LE Truck Performance Package for 2021 Camaro SS models. Previously, this package was only available with a 6-speed manual transmission for the SS model.

The exterior features a new color, Wild Cherry Tintcoat, for the convertible roof. Unfortunately, the Camaro Insignia package, which added chrome badges on the fenders, painted engine covers, and floor mats with the Camaro logo, was removed.

Interior changes for the 2021 Camaro include wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto features and standard wireless charging for mobile devices in the 3LT and 2SS trims. Previously, wireless charging was only standard on the Camaro ZL1 in the 1SE trim.

The powertrain lineup remains unchanged, starting with a turbocharged 2.0-liter inline four with 275 hp and 295 lb-ft of torque. Next comes a 3.6-liter V6 with 335 hp and 284 lb-ft, and then a 6.2-liter V8 with 455 hp and 455 lb-ft. The 6.2-liter supercharged V8 has a maximum output of 650 hp and 650 lb-ft, which are destined for the Camaro ZL1.

Sales of the 2021 Camaro will begin in the fall. Pricing will be announced closer to the start of sales, but is unlikely to be significantly different from the 2020 model's starting price of $26,900.

The current sixth-generation Camaro is in its sixth year of production. Chevrolet has remained silent on plans for a seventh generation, although parent company General Motors has hinted that electric power may play a role.
