The first 2020 Chevrolet Corvette has been delivered to its owner.

Chevrolet's new mid-engine Corvette is finally arriving at dealers nationwide, but if you were hoping to be one of the first - a car with a VIN number ending in 001 - you're too late.

Rick Hendrick, owner of the Hendrick Motorsports team and founder of Hendrick Automotive Group, won the rights to the car at a charity auction in January for a whopping $3 million. He recently picked up the car at his Rick Hendrick City Chevrolet dealership in Charlotte, North Carolina, and posted this video on Facebook.

The car is a 2020 Corvette Stingray Coupe painted black and equipped with all available options, including the Z51 Performance Pack, a 495-hp 6.2-liter V8 capable of accelerating to 60 mph in under 3.0 seconds and lap the Nürburgring in 7 minutes 29.9 seconds. lap the Nürburgring in 7 minutes 29.9 seconds. lap the Nürburgring in 7 minutes 29.9 seconds. Recall that this is the base model with a naturally aspirated engine.

All proceeds from the sale were donated by Chevrolet to the Detroit Children's Foundation, which supports educational resources throughout Detroit.

The C8-generation Corvette was originally scheduled to arrive at dealers in late 2019, but was delayed due to a strike last fall at the Bowling Green, Kentucky plant. Now that production is fully completed, you have a chance to own this bargain priced at just $59,995, with a $67,495 convertible variant, as well as a more powerful version, coming soon. Given Hendrick's track record, the first owner of this model will also be Hendrick.

We've already driven the C8 Corvette a lot. Chevrolet prevented the mid-engine Corvette from landing. Precise handling, better visibility, a better interior, and quicker acceleration. Experienced drivers could also tailgate and drive it around the track
